VCLA fosters volunteerism by educating people and communities about the significant contribution that volunteers can make. Volunteering is rewarding for people of all ages in all walks of life, so VCLA offers workshops, toolkits, and other resources that help individuals, families, communities, and organizations reap the rewards of volunteerism. VCLA also offers a referral service and educational opportunities year round, with special emphasis on the role that volunteering can play in building strong families and communities.

VCLA 's Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) offers volunteer opportunities to students, individuals, families, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and corporations. The program recruits prospective volunteers and matches skills, talents, and preferences with thousands of organizations throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and Antelope Valleys.

VIP helps nonprofit agencies carry out their mission, providing volunteer support that builds infrastructure and enhances service delivery. VIP also provides school groups, adult social groups, families, and corporate groups with special events and episodic volunteering opportunities.

Each week, VIP highlights current volunteer opportunities on the VCLA website. After you complete an application form, a VIP representative will contact you to find out more about your interests and work to match you with a non-profit agency that can benefit from your help. The possibilities are literally endless, and volunteers can choose from a wide range of short or long-term projects that fit with their skills, interests, and scheduling needs.

VCLA recognizes the importance of volunteering and celebrates volunteers in a variety of ways. VCLA has a yearly awards event, and a corporate volunteer award ceremony. VCLA is the authorized representative of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which honors volunteers who complete 100 hours of service within a year.

In addition, VIP helps coordinate the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC). CVC seeks a commitment from businesses of all sizes to support and encourage their employees to participate in volunteer activities and promote effective volunteer leadership and positive social change. In times of crisis, VCLA helps to mobilize volunteers to support critical disaster response agencies and functions.
