We are looking for a strong group of volunteers who will be willing to assist this agency prepare for a big fundraising event for November 2008. HCDD is a nonprofit organization which promotes a comprehensive health care plan. They provide services to over 47,000 at-risk youth annually. The programs mission is to enrich the lives and spirits of those children, adolescents, families and adults who are entrusted to them with comprehensive treatment and health care services. The vision of HCDD is to create and promote a continuum of best health care and treatment practices that lead to positive changes and healthier lives. Volunteers are needed to assist HCDD for the next three months in putting together a black tie fundraiser for a youth who lost his hand in a terrible accident. This young man would like to pursue a career in medicine and with the agency’s assistance he will be able to obtain a prosthetic. They are a fun organization. They need help in stuffing envelopes, getting the VIP mailing list together, making telephone calls, getting sponsors, donations for the silent auction and working with the entertainment committee. Writers and media folks are also needed who can write about the event: someone who can put together press releases summarizing the highlights of the evening and emphasize why they are raising funds. Volunteers are needed anytime between 9 am and 6 pm, Mondays thru Fridays until the big day on November. Interested volunteers must be at least 16 years old. A Los Angeles-based Science Center is pleased to present BODY WORLDS 3 & The story of the Heart. This special exhibit features over 200 authentic human specimens including whole body plastinates not seen before, organs, translucent body slices, and for the first time-a special presentation of the heart. This exhibit will be open from March 14, 2008 through September 7, 2008. Volunteer to make this exhibit is a blast! Volunteers must have excellent customer service skills, an outgoing personality, be in a good health and at least 16 years old. Volunteers must commit to volunteering for a minimal of 3 months. Ideally, volunteers would be able to commit to working one 4-hour shifts per week. Volunteer shifts are available in the morning, afternoon and evening, Monday through Sunday.
